Buying an engagement ring sits in a category of its own. It combines financial weight, personal significance and, for many, a level of unfamiliarity that makes even simple decisions feel uncertain.
What defines the experience is not just the outcome, but how that uncertainty is handled. Increasingly, the expectation has shifted away from selecting a finished product and towards understanding how it is developed, step by step, before it is ever made.
Founded a decade ago by two friends, Taylor & Hart was built around a clear idea, to make the process of buying an engagement or wedding ring more transparent and more considered.
Rather than beginning with a fixed collection, the process starts with a conversation. Each client is paired with a dedicated design consultant, someone trained to interpret an initial idea and translate it into a resolved design.
That idea rarely arrives fully formed.
It might begin with a reference image, a preference for a particular stone shape, or a detail that has been discussed over time. From there, the design develops gradually, shaped through discussion rather than selection.
The emphasis is not on narrowing options quickly. It is on building understanding.

A consistent theme across customer experiences is the concern of getting it wrong.
That concern often slows the process before it begins. Engagement rings carry a long-term significance, and for many, the lack of prior knowledge adds an additional layer of uncertainty.
Taylor & Hart’s model is structured to address that directly.
Access to a consultant remains constant throughout, whether through in-person appointments in London, virtual consultations or ongoing conversations via WhatsApp. Questions are resolved as they arise, allowing decisions to progress without pressure or urgency.
The pace is set by the customer.
Some move quickly. Others take time to refine details, revisit ideas and explore alternatives. The process accommodates both, without forcing a single route to the outcome.

Once a direction is established, the design is translated into visual form.
Clients are able to review detailed renders of their ring before production begins, refining elements and understanding how each decision affects the final piece. For those unfamiliar with jewellery, this stage bridges the gap between concept and reality.
Production takes place in Taylor & Hart’s London workshop, where traditionally trained makers combine hand-finishing techniques with modern manufacturing processes.
The approach remains consistent from start to finish, measured, considered and responsive to change.

From loose stones to finished settings, the design process at Taylor & Hart allows each element of an engagement ring to be carefully considered before it is brought to life
For many, the difference comes through in how the process unfolds rather than a single defining moment.
One client described the experience as something shaped by guidance and clarity throughout:
“From start to finish, the process felt easy and genuinely enjoyable. Maria was approachable, patient and knowledgeable, guiding me with thoughtful advice and never making it feel overwhelming or rushed. The final ring turned out even better than I imagined.”
Another pointed to the importance of being able to take time over the details:
“I had a lot of questions and was very particular about small details, and I always felt listened to and taken seriously. Taneka was thoughtful and patient throughout, and the final ring turned out even more beautiful than I had hoped for.”
In both cases, the outcome was not just the finished piece, but the confidence built along the way. The ability to ask questions, revisit decisions and refine small details becomes part of the experience itself.

Alongside the design process, the structure around ownership reflects a longer-term view. Lifetime care, resizing services and upgrade options are built into the offer, while insured global delivery and discreet packaging ensure the experience remains consistent from design through to delivery.
Ethical sourcing forms part of that framework. Diamonds are selected in line with recognised standards, with certification and traceable options available for those who want a clearer understanding of origin.
The model extends beyond a single transaction.
What Taylor & Hart reflects is a broader change in behaviour.
Customers are moving away from fixed collections towards something more flexible. They are looking to understand what they are buying, to shape it in their own way and to feel confident in the decisions they make along the way.
This is not about adding complexity.
It is about removing uncertainty.
The engagement ring category has long been built around presentation. A finished piece, shown, selected and purchased.
What Taylor & Hart introduces is a different structure.
The emphasis moves from choosing to understanding. From product to process. From a single decision to a series of considered ones.
That shift reflects a broader change in how people approach luxury.
Confidence is no longer expected at the start. It is built along the way.
