For more than a decade, Fly By Night has been one of Stephen Webster’s most recognisable jewellery collections. Instantly identifiable through its sculptural winged silhouette, the collection has become a cornerstone of the British designer’s portfolio, appearing in countless interpretations while retaining the same sense of movement, drama and individuality that first made it stand out.

This summer, the collection returns in a fresh palette inspired by the season. New Fly By Night Mini pieces introduce Light Green Agate Crystal Haze alongside White Mother of Pearl Crystal Haze, bringing soft colour and luminosity to rings, pendants and earrings crafted in 18ct yellow gold and finished with white diamonds.

A Collection That Continues to Evolve

First introduced more than 15 years ago, Fly By Night occupies a unique position within the Stephen Webster universe. Rather than defining the motif as a butterfly, moth or bat, Webster deliberately left the design open to interpretation, allowing the winged form to become something more symbolic and personal to the wearer.

Over the years, the collection has evolved from an original brooch concept into one of the designer’s most enduring signatures. It has appeared across fine jewellery, high jewellery and even inspired the Swarovski tiara worn by debutantes at the Vienna Opera Ball in 2014.

While the silhouette remains familiar, Fly By Night has continually been reinvented through new materials, gemstones and colour combinations.

The Role of Crystal Haze

Central to many Fly By Night creations is Stephen Webster’s Crystal Haze technique, which combines faceted quartz with a coloured gemstone beneath to create depth, vibrancy and light reflection.

The latest summer additions continue that tradition. Light Green Agate Crystal Haze introduces a vibrant green tone that brings a contemporary feel to the collection, while White Mother of Pearl Crystal Haze offers a softer, more ethereal appearance that complements the winged forms particularly well.

Across the collection, white diamonds highlight the edges of the design, accentuating the shape of each wing while adding contrast against the coloured Crystal Haze centres.

Colour for Summer

What makes these latest additions particularly interesting is their simplicity.

Rather than reinventing Fly By Night entirely, Stephen Webster has focused on colour.  The latest additions introduce two distinct colour directions, combining Light Green Agate Crystal Haze and White Mother of Pearl Crystal Haze with the collection’s established winged silhouette.

The result is jewellery that remains unmistakably Fly By Night while feeling perfectly aligned with the lighter mood of summer dressing.

It is a reminder that some of jewellery’s most successful collections are not those that constantly change direction, but those that evolve thoughtfully over time.

The Jewels Club Take

Many jewellery collections enjoy a moment of popularity before disappearing from view. Fly By Night has done the opposite. More than 15 years after its introduction, it remains one of Stephen Webster’s defining signatures.

These new Crystal Haze colourways demonstrate why. The collection’s distinctive silhouette provides a strong foundation, while seasonal updates through colour and materials ensure it continues to feel relevant. Rather than chasing trends, Stephen Webster is building on an established design language that customers already recognise and understand.
